Im the biggest thriller book fan. If I get stuck into one I’m in it until its finished. That usually takes a matter of days. I’m not ashamed. Why should I be. I’m a scardy cat when its comes to thriller movies, I’m the biggest wuss of real life scary stuff. But get me a good thriller book and Im your bestie. I do like to read other genres, sometimes I find with thrillers its hard to read one after the other. They kinda all blend into one and you don’t know who has been killed, who the killer is and if it was a knife, candle stick or rope that killed the dead. [did you get my cludeo reference I just did]
I’ve been reading a hella lot of these types of post’s, which lead to a internet induced book order. Which I thought ya’know what, you made me buy these, at least one of you gotta go out a buy one of these books because I said so. Some I have already read so I’ll tell you all my true feelings, if you should read it or if it was completely shit and totally not worth it. I’m going to be brutal. If you don’t like it, bye. No please don’t go. Not just yet. Get to the bottom of this one first. Just give me a try. Please? [What the F*&K am I doing]
Big Little Lies – Liane Moriarty
Ok. The final of Pretty Little Liars and Alix from I Covert Thee [look at me calling by the first name, you’d think I actually knew her] made me buy this book. I was totally unimpressed with the finale of PLL, no spoilers don’t worry your little pants. I needed something to take my mind away from the horrible ending and focus on something enthralling. This certainly did just that. I started this book on a Saturday afternoon and finished all 482 pages of this books by the Wednesday night. I was hooked. To the point where I actually took the book into work with me, and read it on my half an hour lunch break. I just couldn’t put this bloody brilliant book down. I’m not going to go into the story, let me know if you want a whole other post on this book. But the way it was written was amazing. Even though there was so many different characters I knew who I was at which point in the book. I wish there was another book to this. I think next on my list for buying books is The Husbands Secret by Liane Moriarty, I think she is slowly becoming my favourite author.
The Underground Railroad – Colson Whitehead
It was the cover of this book that really did it for me. Both myself and Alex where stood in waterstones, looking for books for our holiday and this one jumped out to both of us. We actually went off looking for books and came back to each other with this one in hand, saying ‘ I think we would both like this one’. Its true love isn’t it? [ 100% joking, for those of you who don’t know me!] I am super excited to read this one. I will be sure to get back to you once I have read it.
Beautiful Broken Things – Sara Barnard
This was in Zoella‘s W H Smith book club last year, if I remember correctly. I picked it up on a whim, wanting something super easy to read. I didn’t actually get round to reading it until this year and I actually really enjoyed it. It was super eye opening and encourage all teenagers and young adults to give this a try. You really don’t know what other people are going through. It really made me look at life in a whole other view. I was pretty speechless to be honest.
The Couple Next Door – Shari Lapena
A few months ago I was shopping for books and I was going to buy this one or another, but i went for the other in the end. I then tweeted about it and loads of people where telling me to read it. I finally picked it up and am actually leaving this one for my holidays. It looks like a pretty decent size and I’m hoping it gives me a fair few hours of sun bathing. Is it just me who gets insanely bored lying sunbathing with nothing else to do?
The Essex Surpent – Sarah Perry
I remember watching one of Tanya Burr‘s vlogs where she was reading this and in the back of my mind I told myself one day I want to read it. I never actually got round to it at the time but when I was Amazon placing my order, I knew I had to add this one to my collection. The cover is stunning and the story sounds so beautiful. I am just about to start reading this one, in a nice bubble bath with a glass of bubbles beside me. I will be sure to let you know my thoughts on insert stories as soon as i have read a few chapters.
Those are the books I have so far for this summer, but I am sure I’ll be needing some more. If you have any suggestions please leave them below, so I can spend more of my wages on pretty ass books.

7 years agoLovely post Charlotte, we have such similar taste! I do love a pretty cover too – and there is some great ones in your haul. I recently got into reading thrillers this year so The Couple Next Door sounds promising. Beautiful Broken Things has been on my TBR list for a while now. Do you like Zoella’s book club books? Her recent releases look interesting in my opinion. I’m always intrigued to see what YouTuber’s are reading also – Tanya has a good eye for books. I’m currently reading The Lauras by Sara Taylor, and it’s not what I expected so far, it’s pretty good though. I enjoyed the chatty side to your post – happy reading! 🙂 xx
