As the summer creeps closer and closer to us, I like to get my hair in good condition as I find once im away on holiday my hair can get a bit dry due to the hot weather.
To start I like to jump in the bath and get my hair all nicely washed. At the minute I have been loving the Garnier Ultimate Blends The Silky Smoother Shampoo and Conditioner in the scent Vanilla milk and Papaya. Don’t worry I don’t only wash my hair in the summer but it thought id give you a quick look at what ive been loving using at the moment. When im paying my hair special attention I like to add a thick amount of this on my hair and leave it for five minutes before rinsing it off and depending on how much time I have, sometimes I like to do two coats of the shampoo.
I then go onto using a hair mask and the one that I have been loving lately is the Macadamia Oil Extract Hair Treatment, which I get from the £1 shop for guess how much a £1! I add this hair treatment once a week to keep my hair in a gorgeous condition. Again I leave this on for around 5-10 minutes and make sure it is all rubbed into my roots. I also like to put my hair up in a towel whilst this is on just to make sure it stays put on my hair.
When styling my hair in the Summer I don’t like to use too much heat due to the fact it is already facing heat from the sun. So if i’m not popping out anywhere once i’ve washed my hair I tend to leave it to dry on its own. If I’m going to straighten it I will then do so once it has dried but if I am wanting to go for a more beach styled/wavy look I like to add the Loreal Studio Matt & Messy Sea Salt Spray which gives my hair a lovely texture and also creates gorgeous waves. If I am just wanting more of a volumed look with straightened sections of my hair I like to add some of the Bumble and bumble Thickening Hairspray to the roots and then rub it in.
I hope you liked todays post on Getting Ready For The Summer, a bit of a shorter one this week but next week it will be back with a longer style post with lots more photos! Who knows maybe ill be letting you see into my beach bag! (hinthint)
Let me know what products you like to use on your hair in the summer in the comments below!
This is a post that I have been searching for since I got my hands on La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo and havent really managed to find many but at last I have found something that personally I believe is a very good dupe. Although it is not as good as the original I think that if you cant quite stretch your purse to meet the cost of the Effaclar Duo than this would do the trick.
First lets talk about the original La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo, its a treatment cream that helps with those pesky little blemishes, bad pigmentation and other imperfections which may appear on your face. I bought mine personally for small and big blemishes that would creep upon me. I applied this every night once I had taken off my make-up and toned instead of putting moisturiser, for about a week, which helped wonders with my blemishes. After the week was over I returned to my normal night time moisturiser and only used this on areas that needed it or all over m face for one night a week. It really helped to clear my bad skin!
It has a really fruity smell and is a cram but kinda like a gel once you’ve rubbed it in, you get a 40ml tube which honestly goes along way! Ive had mine since November 2013 and still have some left! and like I say I use it every week, it is on the slightly pricey side at £15.50 but it is definitely well worth it!
Now onto the product that I have found which is similar to the La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo and that is the Garnier Dark Spot Corrector. I bought this on a whim in Asda thinking that it may be similar to the original that I had bought and oh is it similar. The products aim is to hide dark spots and lessen them which was my goal when my buying the Effclar Duo s when I saw this I thought why not give it a go.
The casing of the product is slightly different with it being a metal bottle rather than plastic but the applicator part is similar with the nozzle end. This Garnier product smells exactly the same, if someone was to blindfold me and ask me to smell both and guess which one was which I simply wouldn’t be able too. The product itself has the same consistency as the original, being creamy to look at but once rubbed into the skin is more like a gel. You get an extra 10ml with this being at 50ml a bottle which is always a positive and it costs much less than the Effaclar Duo retailing at £9.99 but I got for a bargain price of £3.99 in Asda. The only difference I have really seen with this is that it takes longer too work than the Effaclar Duo takes which means that when I originally used it for a week and it helped and had to use this for more like a week and half/ two weeks. Which when im trying to get rid of spots is not good!
Overall, if you can afford to buy the Effaclar Duo then do it! but if you are looking for something that is a little bit cheaper but works a little bit slower then go for the Garnier Dark Spot Corrector.
Let me know in the comments down below which spot treatments you have used and loved!
After lusting after the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette I finally splurged and bought it! I have never been so excited about buying something and getting home to try it out, in fact when I got home I took off my eye make-up and tried lots of different look. Im totally not ashamed, as I think this is one of the nicest spring/summer palettes ive ever seen.
This is what the palette looks like inside, gorgeous! It goes from some gorgeous light colours turning into some great transition colours and then to the dark colours which look amazing! A few of my person favourites so far are Buzz, Liar and Blackheart.
Here is a clos up of the light colours within the palette and the colours on my arm, the camera did not pick up the colours great but you get to see how pigmented the shadows are.
And the darker side of the palette, again with the shadows on my arm underneath.
Ive found this palette amazing for the spring and I think ill use it even more in the summer. The palette is a bit on the pricey side but for soo many shadows how could anyone complain! I have found that with some of the more glittery shadows there is fall out but I just hold a piece of cotton wool under my eye while applying these ones and no harm is done. I own the first and third palette now and will no doubt be purchasing the second one soon, I just love them so much!
If you would like to see some make-up looks with this palette just drop me a comment down below and if you have this palette let me know which colours are you favourite!
This week is all about lips! How I keep them under control in the summer and five lip products that I think are great to glam up your face in the warmer months.
For some reasons my lips do not like the heat! During the summer months they tend to go dry and chapped, so I use the Lush Bubblegum lipscrub, to keep them from becoming chapped and horrible. I LOVE this, it tastes amazing and because it is made out of sugar you can eat it after which I think is kinda gross considering you have just scrubbed your lips to get rid of dead skin but each to their own. I then also like to apply a lip balm after I have scrubbed my lip just to keep them hydrated, at the minute I am loving using the Baby Lips in Peach Kiss.
Now onto my five favourite lip products for the Summer time, this is just what I am loving now it will most probably change by the time we get to July/August so be prepared for a new post around that time. So first I have been loving the Revlon Colourburst in 120, which is a vibrant pink glossy kinda product. I love wearing this on my lips with a simple eye just to add a pop of colour to my face, I love that this isn’t matte but also isn’t gloss. I am definitely going to be trying out the other colours in this line! I have also been loving the Revlon Super Lustrous lip gloss in 235 which is a slightly lighter shade than the colourburst and is a gloss. I have been loving carrying this around in my bag for a quick top up during the day rather than stopping and having to look in a mirror to put on a lipstick. Another I have been loving is the Benefit Coralista lipgloss, I LOVE the colour of this as I think its not too bright and isn’t too pale for my skin colour. The gloss isn’t sticky and it lasts for quite a while. This is only the sample of this but I will definitely be purchasing the big size once this one has ran out!
The last two products are both lipsticks, the first is Mac’s Lady Danger which is a bright red colour which I love to wear with a black smoky eye, I would probably more wear this when I was going somewhere nice for a night but I love to wear it also when I have a tan! The last is a Topshop Lipstick in the colour OHH LA LA, which is just a coral pink colour which I love to wear when im out shopping!
Heres the swatches of all the lip products on my arm!
I hope you enjoyed this post, let me know what your favourite lip products are in the comments below!
This is my first favorites post up on my blog but i’m still sticking to the original monthly favorites, you know cause there is more to come guyss.
First on this months list of favorites are two skin care products, I’ve been lusting over the Indeed Labs Hydraluron moisture boosting facial serum which is a costly buy at around £25 but it is definitely worth every penny! I have been using this products for about two weeks now and have seen an amazing difference in my face, i apply this before my moisturiser and it makes my skin feel so much ore hydrated than it has ever! I would recommend this to anyone, once you get over the slightly higher price you will fall in love. Next is the L’Oreal Paris Lumi Magique Primer which retails at £7.99, I was after a primer which was going to leave my skin looking dewy and this was my prince in disguise. After hearing many people rave about this I just had to pick it up and i have been loving it! It leaves a dewy look and also keeps my make-up in place all day.
Next is something that I have been using for a long time but have only recently started using the lighter shade as a highlighter and that is the Collection Lasting Perfection in number 1, this month I have been loving using this under my eyes to brighten them up and also as a highlighter down my nose and at the high points on my face. A brush I have been loving this month is the Real Techniques Stippling Brush, which retails at £11.99 but are normally on offer for buy one get one half price which is a bargain if you ask me. I have been using this to blend in my cream contour colour that I have been using and have found it really creates the finish that I have been after.
For my lip this month I have been loving the L’oreal Paris Colour Riche Collection Privee, which I have in Julianne’s Nude. I think this is a perfect everyday lip colour for the spring/summer and have been loving this with a nude lip gloss over the top. One thing that i know many people have been loving and I bet a lot of you reading this already have is the Soap and Glory Brow Archery, which is £10 which i think is pretty reasonable for a brow product that is this good. I have been using this since the start of April and have never had anything that has helped me with my brows as much as this!
The last two items are both body care items, the first being Vaseline Spray & Go Body Moisturiser, which retails at £4.99 but it definitly worth it! If your lazy like me with moisturising on a morning than you need to get out and buy this now, it is the easiest thing ever. I literally spray this on minutes before i put on my clothes rub it in and im good to go. Once i have my clothes on obviously! I have also been loving applying this Benefit ‘Take a Picture It Lasts Longer’, which is a shimmery body balm, I have been loving using this on my arms if i a wearing something that entitles me to have my arms out. It gives a lovely shimmery glow and makes my skin look very healthy.
Let me know what your favorites have been this month! and if any of them have been the same in the comments below!
