The Smokey Eye Edit

When it comes to eyeshadow I’m pretty basic.

Im no make-ip expert, I just love it. I don’t tend to go out there and use lots of bold colours, however much I would love to. Honestly, eyeshadow scares the shit out of me. I keep it pretty basic. If you looked in most of my palettes the brown shades are the ones that seemed to have hit pan first. Although I do venture into a little bit of the burgundy shades when the autumn rolls in. I thought I would show you my go to eye shadow palettes for creating a smokey eye. This is only your stereotypical black smokey eye, Ive thrown in a little colour, you know just the ones that I feel daring enough to play with.

First to make the cut is the Urban Decay Naked palette, the original, the first to ever make the cut for me. This palette has been heavily loved. I have hit pan on three shades and am so close to hit the others. You can see I tend to stick to the left hand side of this palette where the more neutral shades are. However I have been known to dabble in Toasted and Hustle. Don’t you just love the names in this palette? The few I tend to use most are:

Naked- which I use in the crease to slowly start the smokey eye

Buck – this is used as a darker crease shade

Smog/Dark Horse – I use a mix of these as my outer corner, darkest shade

Virgin – to make my inner corner pop

I find these shades stay put all day, I never have to re touch up and I can trust that they will stay where they are. I think this is my safe palette. If I’m not feeling it I know I can use this palette and feel like I look at least ok.

Next is a Yves Saint Laurent Couture palette For Smoky Eyes in the shade Tuxedo. Don’t you just love that name. I feel like I should get my smokey eye, red lip and black glittery dress on and rock that red carpet. This is the best palette for a good old  black/grey smokey eye. I absolutely bloody adore this palette. I always feel so fancy when I use it. I do tend to use this when Im more attending an event then just your every day. Although you girl needs to break her comfort zones and get to using this everyday. The shadows are super creamy, pigmented goodness, encases in a beautiful gold case. Can it get anymore luxurious. But on the serious note, this palette is perfect. I don’t get much fall out from the shadows, which I have in the past with black shadow, I can literally work around the palette with all the different shades until I feel like I have go the right amount of smokiness.

Last but most certainly not least is palette that gets so much love from me. The Charlotte Tilbury Vintage Vamp eyeshadow palette. I bought this when I very first started getting make-up on a total whim Im going to be honest. I didn’t know what I was getting, what I was suppose to do with but I knew it looked pretty. I love this palette for the autumn. Its just all kinds of perfection. The shades are a gorgeous mix of burgundy and golden tones. They are super pigmented, like a little goes a long way. And you can probably see in the photos, how chunky the golden glitter shade is. I love that its chunky because I feel like it clings to my eye a lot more than a smaller glitter. You’ll be seeing a lot of this around on my Instagram in the upcoming months, I promise you.

I never use almost any makeup, only lipstick, but this is something that I would buy if I started using something. Most important reason is that I can see in the photos that you have actually used the products, not just saying that they are good. Loving it!
