Its All Changing

If I sat at the very beginning of 2017 and thought about things that would happen. It would never have been that I would get 12+inches cut off my hair.

My hair has always been a little safety barrier. It gives me something to hide behind when I get a little too scared. But when I was sat thinking about this. I thought about the little girls who don’t get that safety barrier because a horrible, nasty disease comes and ruins their life.

It made me think. I don’t need that safety barrier. I am super lucky to not have had such a horrible illness.

Why not give those little girls something that I have taken for granted for so long.

Thats when I made the decision. I was getting my hair cut. And the 12inches I got cut off was going to be donated to The Little Princess Trust.

For those of you who don’t know much about The Little Princess Trust, in a nut shell. It is a charity set up by a family who had a brave little girl battling cancer, who very sadly passed away in 2005. During this time there was very little high quality wigs available for those going through cancer treatment and had loss their hair in the process. When their little girl passed away, so many people offered money and support, they decided the best thing they could do with the money was set up a charity to try and raise awareness and make high quality, real hair wigs more readily available.

There are few different ways of getting involved with The Little Princess Trust from raising money to donating the hair you have had cut off, to be made into a wig for a little boy or girl who needs it so much more than maybe you do. There are a few guidelines to what your hair needs to be, which you can read here.

I think it is so important to think about these during our life. We can take for granted things that others would only dream of. I have had long hair for as long as I remember and most days I would complain about not being able to do anything with it. But how cruel of me. There are so many children who would love to have some hair on their head. I’m not saying we should all go and cut all our hair off. But just think about others when your moaning about small things. I am so glad I got my hair cut as short as I did and dontated the hair I had chopped off to The Little Princess Trust. It made me feel super proud and good about myself.

If you have donated your hair, or decide to please let me know and show me your photos on twitter!
