2016 // Beauty Round Up

2016 has been a pretty good year for me, you can find out what has happened in my 2016 Round Up post which went up yesterday. For this one we are sticking with all the beauty bits I have loved in the whole of 2016, there is things in the post I have talked and talked about, but it wouldn’t be a 2016 beauty round up if I didn’t talk about all of those. What kind of shocked me when I was picking all these things out is that there aren’t many that have been super hyped about. Of course there is a few that we all probably have heard of or loved at some point but the majority I think are more just things that I have bought on a whim and absolutely fallen in love with. If you really can fall in love with a beauty product, who’s judging?

Urban Decay Naked palette seems to have been on of the only palettes I have been reaching for so much this past year although I didn’t actually buy it this year. As you can probably tell by the state of the palette it is much loved. I find it super simple to put with any look I am going for and the shadows themselves are a really good quality. I find them really easy to blend and are super smooth on the lid. The four shades I tend to use most are Virgin, Naked, Buck and Smog. These together create a gorgeous brown smokey eye. Soap and Glory Super Cat has been my go to eye liner for at least two years now, however I do want to try some others, so if you have any suggestions please let me know. This eyeliner is super easy to apply and has allowed me to master the cat eye, before this year my cat flick wasn’t something I would do. I could master the left eye but I would come to do the right eye and in the end my whole eye would be covered in liner, woops. This is my second Super Cat and it tends to last me a while, which obviously makes it really great for the money. Anastasia Beverly Hills DipBrow Pomade, is one you will have definitely heard of. I bought mine in around April this year and have only just ran out of it. I love how easy this product is to use, the one thing I would say is to use a little and add more if needed. Because this is a pomade if you make a mistake it is really hard to correct so you end up leaving the house resembling a caterpillar a little too much. The Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara has been my mascara of choice this year. Although I only got it in September which is over half way through the year, I haven’t used any other since then. It ticks all boxes in the good mascara form, length, volume, colour just everything. When I run out of this I will 100% be repurchasing.

Rimmel Match Perfection foundation is a foundation I have talked and talked about this past year. I started using at the very start of 2016 and its only now that I don’t have a fresh bottle waiting for me in my draw, this saving malarkey is going to be pretty hard. Back to the foundation, this does everything for me. It has enough coverage to cover all those nasty spots that seem to brak out when you really didn’t need them too. Although it’s not too heavy on the skin, there is nothing worse than having a foundation that sits super heavy on the top of your skin. The deal breaker for me is the cost of this little beauty. At around £8.99 you really can’t go wrong! Benefits Rocketaur blush is something else that I have been ranting and raving about for at least a year, it may have even been in 2015’s favourites. This blush literally goes with every look, it can be applied super softly for a slight hint of pink to the cheeks, or you can really build it until you have the colour you were really looking for. Let’s not all go out looking like clowns though, okay? If you have never had a Benefit box blush where have you been living, the smell of these little beauties is something else, get down to your nearest stockist and give them a sniff. If they ask you what on earth you are doing just tell them you love the smell. As you probably all know, high lighter has pretty much been the focus of the year. If your not highlighting your face have you been living under a rock? I’ve not heard that saying forever, I had to slip it in. I bought this Sleek highlighting palette in Cleopatras Kiss, near the end of the year but I have been reaching for it ever since. You get four different shades, two cream and two powder. They are literally everything and more. If you only want a small amount of highlighter you could just apply a small amount of powder, if you are wanting a little more then applying you can apply the powder on top of the cream. My last make-up favourite is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in the shade Pure Hollywood, if I don’t have one of my long loving mac lipsticks on you’ll find me with this beauty on. This last literally all day, I tend to re-apply it once through out the day purely because it tends to ware off near the inner of your lip, and lets face it nobody wants to see that. This colour is the perfect nude for an everyday shade but also looks amazing with a dramatic smokey eye.

For skincare and body three things have really made it for me in 2016, to be honest I need to up my skincare game. For christmas I was lucky enough to receive lots of amazing goodies for my body so I have no excuse, and my skincare draw is pretty much full up so I really need to delve in. Hopefully this time next year when I am writing out these posts I can show you a lot more things that I have been loving. The Pixi Glow Tonic is something that I have been using since April, this stuff is life. I use this morning and night as my toner and it works wonders, I can honestly say this has helped reduce the amount of break outs I suffer from. Its a exfoliating toner so helps to remove any dead skin cells that may have built up, I think it may be a great product to pick up after all the indulging this Christmas. The mask I have been obsessed with is one that I picked up from New York in September but since then when I want a super cleansing face mask I reach for this one which is the Boscia Black Mask. I love this mask because you can really feel it working, from the moment you put it on your face right until it has dried. Lets be honest who doesn’t love a peel mask, there is something so amazing about getting to peel it off right at the end. Not going to lie though this one can sometimes hurt! The last product in this post is the St Tropez gradual tan, this stuff has saved my pastey life in the summer. This is applied just like a moisturiser all over the body after a bath/shower, the next day when you wake up you will look so much more bronzed, the smell wont be as bad you would expect for a self tanner either.
